As I am pretty new to the city, I'm still having a hard time knowing exactly where I am when I start wandering around. Thankfully this giant beacon, located on the Tortoise Tower (Thap Rua) in the Hoàn Kiếm lake, helps me out during the night. Not sure it was its original purpose - but hey, I take what I can get :).

Bonjour Jérôme,
And welcome to the City Daily Photo blog community. I'm happy to see Hà Nội through your eyes.
I went there in 1993 and never went back since then. I suppose it has changed a lot.
Hello Minh, en effet ca ressemble fort a des insectes volants. Heureusement la lumiere les attire plus que moi!
Hilda: thanks, I'm glad you like the shot!
Eric: indeed Hanoi has changed a lot - even in a 5-year time frame I have been able to witness quite a lot of changes in the city, mainly on the proportion of bicycles vs. motorbikes. But the thrill of crossing a road is still intact! :)
Wow.
very very cool shot.
